7 Knox College Women Reconnect
Barb Davis, Jane McGuire, Nancy Lyons, Sandy Emery, Kim Berney, Lisa Roberts and Sara Treacy made a pact to keep in touch, after meeting in Denver, CO in April 2009. This blog spot is my contribution to that mission! So, I invite us 7 to blog at: www.7KnoxWomen.blogspot.com. It's easy; just write your thoughts and you'll get responses from the rest of us, from time to time, I'm sure. Let's have fun!

Great idea, Sara! I was just thinking of writing an email to everyone as well. Then I came to work today and there was an email from you and Jane. I think we all must have been thinking the same thing.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how to make my own post here, separate from a comment.
Hope you all are enjoying your summers, relaxing some, and taking vacations.
Sandy
This is impressive! I have been wondering how everyone is doing this summer! What a fun way to communicate. We all got Jane's email so our thoughts are with her as she goes through the transition of losing her dad.
ReplyDeleteMy summer is great so far. I am training for the Tri for the Cure triathalon on August 2. Leave for Chicago the week after July 4 for a LATE (Long After Twilight Ends) 25 mile bike ride through the empty (hopefully) streets of Chicago, arriving back at Grant Park at 5:30 am! Should be fun!
I am with Sandy...I don't really know how to do this. Do we need to sign in? Register? What?
Sara is on the forefront of technology...impressive!
This is my first blog ever! I'm a bit nervous but will plug along.......
ReplyDeleteSummer has certainly arrived in Baltimore - the heat and humidity and strong thunderstorms are with us constantly. My flowers are beautiful and the tomatoes are coming along nicely.
We are still planning our car trip to New England - we'll be gone the last week in July and the first week of August. Our main destination is Vermont where we have a wedding on August 1st. We're trying to figure out a way to go to Quebec City where neither of us have ever been. Has anyone been there and do you have any advice for us? I'd still love to visit Sara in NH on our way back; I'll be in touch with you separately, Sara.
I've already sent my condolences to Jane - I just hope each day gets better for you.
Sandy, what about your trip to NYC?
Lots of love to all - Kim
Thanks to everyone for blogging! Isn't this an amazing phenomenon? Sandy, you can't actually do anything on this site except post comments as you are doing. If you would like to send pictures for our site just email them to me and I'll post them. I am no e-genius but I do have a husband who understands how to do all this stuff.
ReplyDeleteKim, I have a cousin(kind of nutty) who lives and works in Baltimore and when I saw her over the 4th I thought of you. I couldn't remember what company or agency you work for but she asked me if you are a member of Peace? As far as Quebec City goes, my children went there on school trips and loved it. The charming old city is very European, supposedly. I have never been. The hotel Frontenac is the big chateau-like hotel that is the signature hotel in QC. I don't know if it is as expensive as it sounds. Let me know about a visit to NH when you've figured it out.
Joe just made reservations for us to take the Cat (fast boat) to Nova Scotia for a couple of nights. We have always wanted to go. Has anyone been? The Cat goes from Portland, Me to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. We'll also spend a couple of nights at Joe's little antique house 50 minutes north of where we live. He bought it before we married as a place to take his kids. Then we meet our old friends on the cape for a few nights; and in between I keep working like a mad woman. My son finished college Hallelujah and is doing really well...still looking for a job however. Finally the rain in New England seems to have stopped and we had sunshine today. It has been horrendous. My flower garden is a wreck and the porch can't be painted because it can't dry out. love to all, Sara PS Tell me more.
PS Barb, you are amazing! Good luck with your tri. Nancy where are you and how is your sternum? Jane, again my condolences and as Kim so aptly said, I hope each day gets better.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI just returned from Chicago where I did the 25 mile Long After Twilight Ends (LATE) ride. We had a blast! It started at 2:00 am, went through some of the best/worst streets in Chicago. The folks in the Greek Town Bars cheered us on. On another street, we were cheered by a group of people on the porch. When I turned to look at them, 2 of them were mooning us! YIKES! Returned at 5:00 am through Lincoln Park and saw the sun rising over Lake Michigan. I will post or send some photos. It was a a riot! Now am thinking of entering this week's Moonlight Classic in Denver (it is only 10 miles!). We'll see!
Sara, my trip to the East wouldn't be until 2010.
Hope everyone is enjoying the summer. So far, so good for me!
Love to all,
Barb
That sounds pretty amazing, Barb. I can't imagine racing for 25 miles, let alone in the middle of the night. Barb, have you had any contact with Nancy. She seems to be MIA.
ReplyDeleteKim, I decided to save NYC for another trip and time when $$$ might be more plentiful. The hotel alone was too much - and then all I'd like to see when I'm there. Instead we're going to Disneyland. Haven't been the kids were 7 and 10, so that will be fun.
We've had some glorious summer weather - today is one of those days. And here I am at work....
I wish us working stiff got summer vacation like when we went to school!
Have good weekends, everyone. Love from me, Sandy
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI finished the Tri for the Cure and did better than last year by 3 minutes. I finished in less than 2 hours. Today I am feeling it. Celebrated mightily last night with family and friends. Great fun!
This weekend (August 9) I do a 45 mile bike ride through the hills of Boulder County. It is beautiful! But OHHH my aching rear!
I know Kim prefers email, but this is so cool. Let's try to keep it up!
I will check in with Nancy and let everyone know.
Barb
One other comment on the Tri..you can check out the short video (2 mins--I am not in it!)at www.denverpost.com/videos. Select Tri for the Cure.
ReplyDeleteBarb
